The Museum

Bagpipes

Permanent exhibition of the Museum of Central Otava Basin

The core of the entire exposition is formed by the selection of the most elaborate and interesting bagpipe instruments from the period of the 2nd half of the 18th century to the 1st half of the 20th century which have preserved from several Czech museums. The exhibits on display show various construction types of wind bagpipes, blown by mouth, and bellows-blown bagpipes, blown using a bellow. You can also see three-drone bagpipes, the so-called moldánky, dating back to the second half of the 18th century, or very interesting wind bagpipes from South Bohemia distinguished by a perfect workmanship.
