Permanent Expositions

Prehistory

This exposition introduces the prehistoric settlement of the district. Visitors can see findings of stone tools from the earlier Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods.

Medieval History

The exposition depicts the period from the first written reference to Strakonice (castle) dating back to 1243 to the beginning of the 16th century.

Small Knight Hall

The hall is situated in the old castle palace from the 13th century; however, it received its current form in the first half of the 16th century under the reign of Jan III of Rožmberk.

Large Knight Hall

The exposition in this room shows social and cultural life in the town in the second half of the 19th century.

Bagpipes

The core of the entire exposition is formed by the selection of the most elaborate and interesting bagpipe instruments.

Castle Model

A paper model of the Strakonice castle which depicts the condition of the castle in 1920s and is in the scale of 1:200.

Noble Family of Rožmberk and Maltese Order

The exposition is dedicated to the noble family of Rožmberk and the Hospital of St. John the Baptist of Jerusalem (the Johannites or the Maltese Knights Order).

Fezko

The exposition is dedicated to the noble family of Rožmberk and the Hospital of St. John the Baptist of Jerusalem (the Johannites or the Maltese Knights Order).The room shows the beginnings of the oldest industry in Strakonice – fez manufacture.

Česká zbrojovka (Czech Ammunition Works)

The exposition is dedicated to Jihočeská zbrojovka, s. r. o., a company established in Strakonice on 1 November 1919.
